Ex-Ghana international, Ck Akonnor has been asked to step aside by Ghana Premier League side, Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
According to a report sighted on Kickgh.com, the management of the Kumasi-based told the young enterprising gaffer in a closed doors meeting that he has been reassigned to head the club’s technical team.
Per the report, Coach Akonnor rejected the new role as the club’s technical director and opted to abrogate his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.
The former Black Stars captain is reported to have told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM: “Yes it’s true I am no more the coach of Kotoko. I have been asked to step aside but to take over as technical director. I can’t comment.”
From the report, Asante Kotoko is currently holding talks with Ashanti Gold SC head coach Kjetil Zachariassen as his possible replacement.
The 45-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors lads in October last year after terminating his contract with Ashanti Gold SC.
He guided Asante Kotoko to reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup last year.
Coach Akonnor helped the ‘Kum Apem’ lads to beat Karela United in the GFA Normalization Committee Special Competition tier-1 final to grab a ticket to the CAF Champions League.
