Ghana musician, Nana Boroo of Aha Yɛdɛ fame has explained that the outgoing president of the Musicians Union Of Ghana, Bice Osei Kufour, popularly known as Obour failed musicians as their leader.
According to the “Aha Y3 D3” hitmaker, Obour‘s performance over the course of his tenure is nothing to write home about.
In his submission, Nana Boroo noted that Obour was running the office as a typical president which made most musicians lost faith in him adding that he failed abysmally during his tenure as the president.
Nana Boroo further stated that he will rate Obour 7 out of 100 in terms of his performance, adding that he failed his fellow colleague musicians.
In an interview with Mic Gizo on Hitz FM, he said
“When Obour got in, we thought he was one of our own and understood all our worries, but after getting into office, Obour totally failed us the musicians. Many of us had soo much trust in him but zero.
He was running the office like a typical politician, I would give him 7 out of 100, he didn’t do any serious thing worth talking about”, Nana Boroo disclosed.
In 2011, Obour was elected as the president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), an umbrella group that unites all musicians in Ghana irrespective of genre.
He has, however, handed over power to his first vice Bessa Simons as the acting President with the help of the National Executive Committee who were meant to appoint an Interim Management Committee.
This follows the expiration of the tenure of administration on August 11, 2019.
Bessa Simons’ appointment was confirmed at a meeting on Friday, August 30 and he is expected to lead the body until the national executive elections take place.
